Great hotel but you need to budget for 20 euro to get into and back from town.

This is a modern Parador but rather an ugly building. The decor is rather demodé. It is not inside the city itself but has great views of Segovia, if a little far for the eye. Most paradors are housed in beautiful historic monuments but not so in Segovia which is unfortunate because the city itself is medieval and the architecture of the Parador is rather a jarring clash. The rooms are fine and I think have been recently renovated but the bathrooms are in much need of a change. There is a good TV but very few international channels. Wifi works very well and is free. Breakfast is good but not fantastic. It costs 18 euros which is acceptable. The quality is not 5 star and for example the "churros" and pain au chocolats and croissants were a bit dry. The toaster takes forever to work. The dining room itself is enormous, very functional, no style about it whatsoever but it has good views. There is a summer pool overlooking the city which looked nice. Disappointingly, because I had brought our swimming costumes, the indoor pool is only open at the weekends. We had dinner one night using a Smartbox voucher I had been given which includes a free dinner with wine. However, disappointingly, we could only choose dishes from a set menu. Anything else which looked more appetising had to be paid extra for such as the suckling pig. The voucher cost 200 euros so you would have thought the dinner would have been a la carte. If you stay at this Parador you absolutely have to have a car. There is plenty of room to park outside. The staff are welcoming and kind enough but you can tell they are state workers (funcionarios) as they don't go out of their way when it comes to first class customer service. I love paradors but the one in Segovia is the worst we have stayed at. Not that it's bad, it's just very ugly, has no style or character and is a little run down.

Fab location, overpriced. Would class as a 3 star. Cleanliness not too good in room, smelt musty. One sink usable plug did not function. Only one channel on television which was Chinese. Staff in restaurant very good. Parking good. It was June but not all facilities up and running in hotel. All in all poor for a parador. Thought the hotel lacked a welcome warmth. Reception was very matter of fact.

Whilst this hotel was excellent in terms of views and its decor was interesting, its service was horrific. Completely unacceptable treatment of those with disabilities - for example no shower chair was provided (which is disappointing enough), but then when one was requested a plastic garden chair was left in the hotel room. It was shocking and insulting. Furthermore, it was difficult to access the restaurant - wheelchair users have to go via the kitchens. This is bad, but made worse when there are no staff on hand to help out. The hotel is also very far away from the town of Segovia. The swimming pool was acceptable, but the one inside was unavailable for use unfortunately.

Beautiful view from the hotel, not far from the city center though you have to use taxi to get there. Clean and comfortable rooms.
